In this case we are asked to determine whether a payment of $14,854.08 to the claimant, William K. Dowler, is a severance payment or compensation under the Public School Employees Retirement Code, Act of Oct. 2, 1975, P.L. 298, as amended, 24 P.S. ?? 8101-8104 (the Code). The claimant is appealing an order of the Public School Employes Retirement Board (board) which rejected the proposed report of a hearing examiner who suggested ruling in favor of the claimant when he appealed from the Pennsylvania State Employees Retirement System (PSERS), which refused to consider the money as compensation for retirement purposes. We affirm the decision of the board.
